Brand new to the forum (after figuring out how to login!) and just started looking around. I am a complete novice with no shooting experience. I'm very interested in learning how to shoot archery with good technique, and someday would like to start a JOAD club in Fort Wayne, IN. (A town with exactly ZERO archery clubs!)

Have one lead of a guy who might be able to train me a little, but I would really like to pursue basic cert through a sactioned organization.

Suggestions?

But there are clubs in the area.  We have a club through Whitko Middle School in  Larwill/South Whitley area.  We are affiliated with NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program).  I do know that there is a league of some sort in the Warsaw area as well.

To answer your question about training, you can get involved with a 4-H group in the Fort Wayne area as well as the Boy Scouts.  I am the Shooting Sports Director/Coordinator for the Boy Scouts in an 11 county area.  I either instruct or coach at least 10 months of the year.
